Home

In our society today there are many issues that we do not do enough to fix. Just one of these issues are people who do not have any shelters in which to dwell. A solution is to offer these people very low-income housing in a way that allows them to earn and obtain a sense of pride and ownership. Freight Containers are used and recycled in many different ways. It is very economic to convert and design these containers to be homes. Some containers are already insulated and don't need any additional insulation, as are these.

There are two containers, one is 20x8x9 ft. and the other is
40x8x9 ft. These are very small spaces, but they are designed
so the space feels open, and limitless. This is accomplished by creating large windows and placing smaller windows in which they create depth and some windows are even pushed out
to obtain that open feeling. The maximum amount of daylight
enters the home also adding to that feeling and with part of the
second floor open light travels from the second floor window
down to the first floor creating a type of movement.

This container home is designed for a homeless single mother and her 7 year old son. The home and its surroundings fit there needs and more.
